We're kicking off the year with a brand new sermon series titled "Modeling Matters" - In 1 Corinthians 11:1, Paul boldly declared, "Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ." This series challenges us to live with the same confidence, becoming examples of faith, love, and devotion for others to follow. Now, in today’s message we lean into the truth that modeling can be a little messy sometimes – and often times our expectations don’t meet up with the reality of what we are living out in our lives.

In this message, we reflect on the significance of communion, following the model Jesus gave. Communion is more than a ritual — it’s a moment of worship, remembrance, and gratitude for Christ’s sacrifice. We’ll explore two common extremes in the church regarding communion:
1. Taking it without heart connection – When it becomes a religious formality rather than sincere worship, something Jesus strongly rebuked (Matthew 15:8-9).
2. Neglecting it altogether – Forgetting or avoiding communion, despite its biblical importance.
While Scripture doesn’t specify how often to take communion, it is a practice meant to be observed with reverence and intentionality.
At Lakeside, we set aside time in our First Wednesday service to receive communion together, worship, and give thanks to God.

You are not here by accident. God chose you, loves you, and created you with a divine purpose. In this message, Pastor Jase unpacks what Scripture says about our identity in Christ, helping us discover how His love gives our lives true meaning and direction. Learn how to embrace your God-given purpose and live a life that truly matters.
Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. Genesis 1:26-27 NIV

While God has many attributes that are beyond our comprehension — He is infinite, self-existent, unchanging, all-powerful, all-knowing, and ever-present — what stands out most is His relatability. Despite being the eternal, all-sufficient Creator of everything, God chose to come to us in the most humble way, born in a manger. Through Jesus, He shows us that He understands us, our lives, and our struggles.

Join us as we journey through our series, Majesty in a Manger, and walk through the story of how our Savior came to us humbly in a manger.
